Weekend Rides, December 3 & 4, 2011

Dear Friends,

Weather looks decent for the weekend, so let's make hay while the sun shines!

Please download and print out your own cue sheets, GPS files, and overview maps for the weekend rides directly from the DCCenturyRides blog, http://dccenturyrides.blogspot.com/

Just click on "Cue Sheets" (on the left side of the page), and you'll find them there!  If you're unable to print the cue sheet yourself, let me know and I'll bring a hard copy to the ride start for you.  I won't be bringing extra copies of cue sheets to the ride start unless you email me directly and advise me that you're unable to print out your own.

Here's what's on tap:

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2011

"E-I-E-I-O," starting from Old MacDonald's Farm in Emmitsburg, Maryland.  **MEETING TIME 7:30 a.m.**  Park and meet on Silo Hill Parkway.

Old MacDonald went for a bike ride, and on that ride he set out from his farm in *Emmitsburg,* danced a jig in *Irishtown,* dined like a king at Rocco's in *East Berlin,* picked a few apples in *Idaville,* and crossed the railroad tracks in *Orrtanna.*  See if you can find at least one of each of Old MacDonald's farm animals on this ride!  The first half of the ride is fairly mellow.  The second half is kinda hilly and very scenic.  Lunch at our most beloved Adams County pizza joint, Rocco's!  100 miles, with an 80-mile short option that includes the lunch stop and still eliminates all the afternoon hills.  Estimated elevation gain 5,300 feet.  Here's the link to the RWGPS interactive map and elevation profile:

Directions to the ride start:

EMMITSBURG, MARYLAND  (Silo Hill Parkway)

From DC Beltway go North on I-270 about 31 miles to Frederick.  Continue north on US15 for about 25 miles, then exit onto MD140 West (AFTER the Seton Ave/Bus.15 exit).  Turn left at the stop sign onto MD140 West.  In about a quarter mile turn right onto Silo Hill Rd at the traffic light (McDonald's on R).  Make your 1st right onto Silo Hill Parkway and park beyond the car wash.
